The Evolution of a Dish:

We're Officially Partnering with Indie Chefs

Meez, the only interactive recipe tool of its kind for professional chefs, is honored to announce its partnership with the growing community of Indie Chefs at events across the country. The software startup will provide culinary technology along the 10-city tour, powering Indie Chefs events from Austin to Oakland beginning this month.

Launched in 2020 by entrepreneur, chef and restaurant industry veteran Josh Sharkey, meez is the culinary operating system created for chefs by chefs. The tool offers chefs, culinary creators and independent restaurant operators features such as collaborative and shareable recipe books, laser-accurate ingredient costing, automated recipe scaling and conversions, customized training capabilities, and USDA nutrition calculations.

“I could not be more excited and honored to be partnering with the incredible chefs involved with the Indie Chefs Community,” said meez CEO Josh Sharkey. “Our values at meez are incredibly aligned with ICC, seeking to improve the lives of culinary professionals, bringing to light issues and obstacles that we all face collectively, and leaving our industry better for the next generation of chefs.”

The partners share a mission to support, elevate and collaborate with the chef community, from recipe submission to prep and execution at live events with social engagement and prize giveaways along the way.

"We’re extremely excited to partner with meez and use their platform to organize hundreds of recipes from 200+ chefs across the nation,” said Indie Chefs Founder Grover Smith. “What was once a very labor-intensive process using spreadsheets to organize all the submissions has become much simpler and allowed us to find new ways to collaborate with our community. Josh and his team are invaluable partners and have already gone above and beyond to assist in our growth and success!"

Meez was introduced to Indie Chefs Week in Washington, D.C., in October 2021. This year, chefs will submit recipes on the software and have access to a shared recipe book and docs with content throughout each event.

“The camaraderie that Grover and his team have created between all of the chefs was palpable the minute I stepped into the kitchen with some of them at our first event,” Sharkey said. “We look forward to supporting the chefs in the kitchen and in their professional endeavors as we grow together with the Indie Chefs Community.”
